“If You Were Here Now” Memorial and Performance

at 2200 Clement St, San Francisco, CA. 2pm to 4pm.

On Sunday, Feb 22nd I am hosting a memorial for my mom at The Four Star Theater. It’s open to the public. I encourage anyone knew her, knows me, wants to know more of my family’s Samoan lineage, has or had a mom, or just wants to be a part of a deeply important community ritual to attend.

I will tell her enchanting life story of coming to the USA, our royal Samoan heritage (Atoa), and open the floor to any who would like to remember her or share. At the end of the service I, alongside many of my friends and collaborators, will perform a large-scale piece that I have been writing in memory of my her (in between sleeping and crying).

The memorial and performance will be live-streamed back to our family in Samoa, and worldwide, as well as recorded.

It feels crazy to have this many excruciating life changes happen in a row. 2025 hollowed me out, and I just want everything to slow down + stop, but it hasn’t and won’t. If you have the means to help me grant my mom’s final wishes, and absorb some of the costs of everything that’s happening, there’s a place to contribute at her memorial page. We will also take donations at the memorial itself.
